ERMCO was the successful bidder for the installation of the “EPCOT” script and lighting on this 257 foot tall icon of Sorcerer Mickey’s hand and wand over Spaceship Earth. In addition to the installation, ERMCO also maintains the lighting. There are approximately 2,000 light bulbs outlining the massive letters, some of which are over 35 foot tall. In total, this icon touts over 2,500 lights of various types and sizes.

ERMCO employs technicians certified in high access rappelling to maintain the lighting. This approach eliminates the need to utilize a crane to access the seemingly unreachable areas on the icon. Although this is a highly unusual method, it is the most cost effective approach for the owner and it prevents disruption for the park guest.
